  1. The speaker of the article,"the Peace prize" was a person who heard about the recognition for Obama. S/he is a writer for the newspaper. The audience is the nation, citizens and other people around the world who have heard about the Novel Peace Prize. the purpose is to inform people of what is happening and also to give more details about the recognition for Obama. The topic is if Obama deserves or not the Peace Prize. The thesis is that many people don't understand why Obama won the Novel Peace Prize, but there are many arguments that support the decision.
In my opinion, Obama has earned the novel prize because in less than one year of taking his position, Obama have done something that haven't been done by any other president in the time."Mr. Obama has bolstered this country’s global standing by renouncing torture, this time with credibility; by pledging to close the prison camp at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba; by rejoining the effort to combat climate change and to rid the world of nuclear weapons; by recommitting himself to ending the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; and by offering to engage Iran while also insisting that it abandon its nuclear ambitions."was explained in the editorial" The Peace Prize" President Obama has demonstrated interest not only for his nation but also for others. He is a believer of CHANGE and he's really demonstrating it. And one thing he did that made think of him this way was when he ordered no more raids. This action brought peace to many immigrant families. I think he deserves this recognition.

  2. In the article, "The Peace Prize", the speaker is a writer of the NY Times. The audience is everyone that has or hasn't heard about the Noble Peace Prize that President Obama has received. The subject is to inform the reader's of the reasons why Obama has been given the Noble Peace Prize and rather he deserves it or not. The thesis of the article is rather or not President Obama deserves the prize or not.
My opinion on rather or not President Obama deserves the Noble Peace Prize is that in a way he does but was given too early in his job becasue although he has done a couple of things to better the country, the amount of time that has passed by is still too little. The things that he has been working on are all the conflicts that George W. Bush had done to this country in the years that he was president. In the article it was stated, "Certainly, the prize is a (barely) implicit condemnation of Mr. Bush's presidency.....the will Mr. Bush created around the world is one of Mr. Obama's great achievements in a less than nine months in office." Overall, I'm 50/50 on the topic of Obama winning the Noble Peace Prize because he has helped the country drastically in the ways that Bush made it go down the drain but I also think that is was given to him to rapidily.

  3. The speaker of the article is The New York Times, the audiences are everyone in the country such as politics, students etc. The purpose is to discuss whether, Obama deserves the Novel Prize Or not. The topic of the article The Peace Prize.
I think that Obama hasn't earn the Peace Prize because he hasn't done nothing for us. Obama hasn't end the war in Iraq, He has not done anything for immigrants in this country. He promised us that he will aprove something, so we can go to college. He also said that he will legalize all immigrants. That's why I think he has not earn the Novel Prize.

  4. "The Peace Prize" is an editorial written by the New York Times. It is about controversy that arose when President Obama was awarded the Noble Peace Prize for being diplomatically active. The purpose of this article is to get people who are skeptical of Obama's acceptance of this award to support the noble committee's decision.

Noble Science Prizes are not one for having a great idea and Noble medial prizes are not won for have a good intentional. Obama has been a good president so far and hopefully he will have great accomplishments in the three and a half years, but right now he hasn’t done anything worthy of a Noble Peace Prize. Sure he’s working on closing the penitentiary in Guantánamo Bay but it’s not closed yet. And sure he’s doing a way better job than Bush in representing the United State internationally but being a popular isn’t commendable of a prestige’s award. Martin Luther King won the Noble Pease Prize in 1964 for his accomplishments in the fight for civil rights for African Americans. He didn’t win the Pease Prize for efforts or ideas, he won for his actions. The people of the not only the United States have great expectations for President Obama especially after being award such a status award. Hopeful one day Obama will actually deserve a Noble Pease Prize

  5. The speaker in article, “The Peace Prize” is anonymous. The person can be anyone who believes in Obama or someone who is now seeing Obama’s hard work. The speaker’s audience is everyone from Nobel Peace Prize admirers to people who don’t agree with Obama’s presidency. The topic being discussed is about whether or not Obama should have won the Nobel Peace Prize. “The Nobel Prize, and the broad endorsement that followed, shows how many people around the world want the same thing.” The quote above is the speakers thesis that the Nobel Peace Prize is giving the prize to President Obama because people see his change in the world.
Do I believe that President Obama should have been awarded the famously renounced prize, now that I think about it why not! Obama has been working very rigorously with repairing chaos that former President Bush descended throughout his eight years as president. “Mr. Obama has bolstered this country’s global standing by renouncing torture, this time with credibility; by pledging to close the prison camp at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba; by rejoining the effort to combat climate change and to rid the world of nuclear weapons;..” The quote for article, “The Peace Prize” goes to show the impact President Obama is leaning towards. He is renouncing inhuman torture in the prison of Guantánamo Bay and pleading for banning nuclear weapons. Obama is seeking peace and for a unified world. As the writer for "The New York Times" goes to say “Mr. Obama did not seek the prize. It is a reminder of the extraordinarily high expectations for any American president — and does bring into sharp focus all that he has left to do to make the world, and this country, safer. ”

  6. The topic of this article is the Nobel Peace Prize. The speaker of this article is a New York Times writer who believes that Obama is not a peace maker therefore he should not be awarded with such a prize. The audiences I believe are the people who truly believe that Obama is a true peacemaker and are happy that the president of the United States had been honored with the Nobel Peace Prize. The purpose of the speaker is to persuade others and “open” everyone’s eyes saying that Obama does not deserves this prize. I believe that Obama does deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, because Obama compared to other presidents he has done so much, and that’s what people wanted he’s not only focus on this country he is also planning to help another nations so that the world around us is some how equally the same, unlike President Bush. “Americans elected Mr. Obama because they wanted him to restore American values and leadership — and because they believed he could.” That is actually true because he wanted CHANGE but I agree with Doris that this prize “was given to him to rapidly” because he doesn’t even have 9 months in office well hes about to and some things are still a "work in progress".

  7. In my opinion I believe that the speaker of the article "The Peace Prize" is a writer of The New York Times newspaper who feel that Obama deserve its prize. The audience are all people who read this article and heard about obama's prize. The purpose of diong it is to recognize President Obama's hardwork for getting done everything he is doing to our country. The thesis of this article is whether or not President Obama deserve its prize.
I'm agree that Obama has earned its prize because we can see that he is doing what other president in the past never did as it says " He will do what Mr. Bush failed to do". This quote shows that people believe in him because as it says " Obama’s great achievements in less than nine months in the office has earnred what Bush never did". This reveal that president Obama is doing what he promise to the country that is why he has being nominated with The Peace of prize.

  8. The speaker of this article is someone who holds up President Obama for the accomplishment that he completed. The audience are the inhabitants around the world but principally the North American as the result that him is the one of the ‘best president’ that been existed in USA. The author purpose is to inform the nation about the president Obama earned novel prize. The citizens voted for Mr. Obama as the winner of the novel prize as because they think that he goes to restore the economy and resolve the problems of this nation. In my opinion the president Obama is the right person now for the novel prize as the result that he is resolving the troubles of USA as the economy, the war in Iraq and the diplomacy between Russia and USA. He tries to stop the nuclear rivalry between those countries. So the short time he been as president he solve numerous troubles that other presidents as Mr. Bush could not completed.

  9. In my opinion the speaker of this article is a New York Times Writer, and the audiece of this article is the socity. The porpose of this article to communicate and make people think if the Precident Oboma diserve Nobel Peace prize. should The left denounced the Nobel committee for giving the prize to a wartime president. In my expectation Obama does not diseved the Nobel Peace prize. The main reason for that is, that he still in conflit with Iraq. " Obama has not yet ended the wars in Afghanistan and in Iraq." Techniclly this mean that he need to be totaly out of conflit and encourage other contries to cooparate to maintains peace.

  10. The Speaker of the “The Peace Prize,” a writer for the Ney York Times, is one who recognizes the many accomplishments that President Obama has achieved. The intended audience is everyone across the nation, particularly those who believe that Obama doesn’t deserve the Nobel Prize. Thus this leads too many Americans debating weather he actually deserves the prize or not. The thesis of this article is that Obama thus in fact deserve the Nobel Prize because of his accomplishments.
Personally I believe that he does deserve the prize because he has brought some of the morals that this country was founded on. For example, the Health Care reform is an example of trying to unite the country as one. He is trying to bring the principal of equality to the United States, however many people don’t want a lower “class” person to be equal their status. Futhermnore people belive that the prize should given to a person who has made a difference in the world. Which is in fact what Obama has done, he has been more activelly involved with other countries trying to resolve their problems peacefully. Thus it lead him to win the Nobel Peace Price.

  11. I dont think that obama diserves this prize. I'll tell you who deserve that prize is those troops that he send to afghanistan they put there life on the line for him for all of us and i thing that he shoulden't be awarded for this. What about health care you promise this and what happen you see poeple that is strugling to get medicare and poeple are out there dying becasue of there sickness. How about the economy it hasen't gone anywhere i dont know and i dont see how he deserve it i just dont

  12. The article in the Washington Post "The Peace Prize" is used by the author to show his point of wiew for this controversial issue. I agreed with some of our peers and the author that he has gotten this prize to soon, and not having a year in office yet and not making many changes, simply leads me to say that Obama got this prize for his leadership skills but not for peace. although this may be the case I do agree he deserves it but not yet.

in my opion obama doesnt really deserve it because he hasnt fix the things he said he would like pullin the troops out of iraq, fixing the econmy, health care if he had worked on this thing then he would have deserved it

The audience is the community or community who has heard about the Novel Peace Prize. The purpose is to inform nation of what is occurrence and also to give more information about the appreciation for Obama. The topic is in relation to Obama deserve or not the Peace Prize. The thesis is that many people don't understand why Obama won the Novel Peace Prize when he hasn’t done anything and even though he hasn’t he’s trying his best. In my opinion, am in both sides because I don’t really get why Obama won the Peace Price because from what I know he hasn’t done anything yet. I though that Peace prize is for someone who made peace with other nation or something like that. Well my other side is that yeah he deserved it because even though he hasn’t done anything is positive that he’s trying his best to get the soldiers out of Iran and look for peace with all the nation that U.S has problem with and even though he is the first African-American to be different that’s other big price he should get about it. This will be continuo for the next comments….

  15. The author of the article “The Peace Prize” is a New York Times staff writer. The audience is the community. The speaker can be anyone who agrees that President Obama deserved the Nobel Peace Prize.
I am aware that President Obama has done things to assure peace and safety for the world but still is too early to award him with such honorable prize. It’s true that he “pledge to close the prison camp at Guantanamo Bay, and recommitted himself to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict” among other commitments and actions to reach peace.
However shortly after taking office Mr. Obama ordered “17,000 more combat troops and 4,000 more trainers to Afghanistan,” promoting more violence and death of American soldiers and Afghanistan’s citizens. In conclusion I don’t think he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize yet because he is still involve in a war and is in the process of sending more troops to Afghanistan.

  16. WOW! I see that many people believe that President Barack Obama really deserves that Novel Peace Prize. The New York Times has perfectly posted it! Now everyone can read all about it! In my opinion, there are other people who actually demonstrates that they want peace, not just someone who just gives orders! What happen to immigration reforms, The Dream Act, Health Insurance, MedicAid, and all of those things? Our new president says that he is going to do this, he is going to do that, the time is going by quickly and so little is getting done! That Novel Peace Prize should go to someone who really demonstrates that they have earn it with Pride, after they have accomplish many things! Not to someone who just accepts it and says "Thank You" later on!

Many people think that our president Obama is not capable to stop that war in Afghanistan and in Iraq, and also make this country improve of economic crises that now live.
but in my opinion our president Obama have to take a country with crises impacting that affect our community around U.S. and i think he try take that best desicion on a situasion very terrible. that why The Nobel Prize, and the broad endorsement that followed, shows how many people around the world want the same thing. Acountry better with benific for all residents of Americans.

  18. Don’t get me wrong, I love the president and what he stands for. However, I don’t not think that he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize as of yet. All of which he expresses he'll do and what he has done is either not done or half way completed. For example, before even getting elected, he tells us that he's going to eliminate the war with Afghanistan and remove our troops from there. However, he has thoughts about sending another large amount of soldiers to the war. He has also spoken of decreasing poverty but here in Washington, DC there are very expensive homes being built and the poverty rate for children is 1 out of 2. How can the present that stands for and hasn’t expressed it in anyways that is noticeable get the Nobel Peace Prize? Maybe America has it own definition of peace

  19. The speaker of this article is a representative from the Washington Post. A writer who basically reinterpreted what Mr. Obama had to say and thought about him receiving The Nobel Peace Prize. The audience is safe to say would be the citizens so that we the people can be aware about what him receiving the price means, but most importantly what he will accomplish in regards to the prize. The purpose of this article is to inform Mr. Obama's reaction to him receiving the prize but also to highlight what accomplishments he has left to complete. The topic of this article is funny because it is suppose to talk about mainly the Nobel peace prize and what it means to Obama, but it mainly talks about what Obama still has yet to improve or do in his position as president. The thesis of this article is in the third paragraph. For example it says, "Certainly, the prize is a (barely) implicit condemnation of Mr. Bush’s presidency. But countering the ill will Mr. Bush created around the world is one of Mr. Obama’s great achievements in less than nine months in office. Mr. Obama’s willingness to respect and work with other nations is another." This highlights that this prize barely applies to him but it for his effort and willingness to peruse and achieve. In my opinion I do not believe that Obama has earned the Nobel Peace Prize because even though he shows that he is in a good path, there is still room to mess up. I thought that he obtained that prize way too early. Ok he has many plans for the future of America, but no one of his plans have yet been completed and some even started. What in doubt is the Nobel Peace Prize? It’s the world's most prestigious prize, awarded for the preservation of peace. I surely don’t feel like I’m in peace. The definition of peace should be backed up with evidence, and Obama has no evidence to back up his perseverance of peace because he has not done anything yet. So I do not think that he deserves to receive that prize, I think it was a mistake to hand it to him early. I’m not saying he does not deserve it, I just think that he should complete some of his obligations as president before he should be awarded that prize.

In ths article, the speaker is a New York Times editor, the audience is politician and political analysts, and he is not necessarily trying to persuade people that Obama deserves it, but he backs up with evidence that Obama is eligible and earned the Nobel Peace Prize. Personally, I think Obama doesn't deserve it until he has actually done something. The recession hasn't ended, and there havent been any majot changes in the dispensing of the nuclear weapons. There has been no major change. In order to be awarded, one must already have accomplished an actual action of creating peace.

The topic of this op-ed is president Obama is making steps in the right path towards world peace.
I believe Obama had earned the Nobel Peace prize because he has outdone former president Bush's 8 year career in just nine months. THis can be supported or proven in his attempts to end illegal torturing, attempts to create international peace as well by ending the war.

The audience for this historic event is the American Civilians. The argument is does President Obama really deserve the noble peace price. The award was given to him for his accomplishments. The presidents stands for great things but my personal opinion he shouldn't received this Nobel peace Prize so soon.
“The Nobel Prize, and the broad endorsement that followed, shows how many people around the world want the same thing.” The quote above is the speakers thesis that the Nobel Peace Prize is giving the prize to President Obama because people see his change in the world. 28. President Obama has demonstrated throughout his whole campaign that he wants to make a “change” and has “hope.” The president seems to be confident and very optimistic in the goals he wants to accomplish in order to keep this country stable. Now, the person who has posted this article is aware of and has recognized the fascinating ideas Obama has for the country. This article was posted for all citizens to see that anything is possible. Setting your goals is the first step and achieving them isn't the last either. After you have achieved your goals go further up on and set some more goals. The topic of this article is that many do not agree that President Obama should have gotten the Nobel Peace Prize just yet. I also agree that the president shouldn't have gotten the prize right now because it seems that he had said so much, but has either thought of the idea and started it but has not totally finished it. I think that Obama should have been given the Nobel Peace Prize after we have seen some peace in the United States.

The audience of this article is all the people who question giving Obama the Nobel Peace Prize as well as the Bush administration. The topic of the article is about Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize so soon after being president a short while. I think that President Obama won the Nobel Peace to fairly because although he is trying to make a change he making the effort to do it. it’s the same situation that made Martin Luther King win the Nobel Peace Prize, because he was trying to make a difference in society. Obama is trying to make a change because it says “ Mr. Obama is has bolstered this country’s social standing by renouncing torture, this time with credibility; by pledging to close Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; by rejoining effort to combat climate change and to rid the world of nuclear weapons; by recommitting himself to ending the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; and by offering to engage Iran while also assisting that it abandon it’s nuclear ambitions.” This is a change that some people want awhile others do not, but I believe that is deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize because it not only effects one person, but a group of different people. The Nobel Peace Prize is something that can be treated as a sign of hope and change for people who want it.

I have no comments toward this criticism if people believes Obama deserves such recognition then he does but if others belies he has done nothing to actually receive such honor then he shouldn't. I have no thoughts nor concern and believe it or not this just the first article that gets me off track. Here is an article where we see the misjudgement of individuals towards visions of hope. Everything he is dong to the big percentage of the crowd it positive. "Americans elected Mr. Obama because they wanted him to restore American values and leadership — and because they believed he could", this right here I think is a reason for him to win the award. If we the people voted him in for a reason that he has already started to obtain then why not give him a little something to push hm further and feel appreciated. This is my opinion. Obama had won the nobel prize is because he's the first black president that people elect and had hope for him "Americans elected Mr. Obama because they wanted him to restore American values and leadership — and because they believed he could." this had prove my opion that obama became president is because he's the first black president and people had put lot of hope on him.

  42. The speaker of this article is a concerned citizen who has an opinion about the accolade President Obama recently received. The intended audience of the speaker is not only the American nation as a whole but also the world since it is a topic that affects the world. The purpose of this article is to advocate the author’s opinion about President Obama receiving the Noble Peace Prize in diplomacy. Recently, controversy has been created due to Obama receiving the award because not many people feel like he deserves it. The thesis in regards to the topic of Obama as the recipient of such a prestigious award is that “Mr. Obama’s willingness to respect and work with nations is another,” has led him to one of his “great achievements in less than nine months in office.”
Even though President Obama hasn’t done much in the country itself, he does deserve this prize in diplomacy because he is making his best effort to fix problems that are not only affecting the USA but also the entire world. The author of this article states, “it is a reminder of the extraordinarily high expectations for any American president—and does bring into sharp focus all that he has left to do to make the world, and this country, safer.” I agree with this because even though on the home front we are still facing the economical hardships, the energy Obama has tried in trying to combat climate change, rid the world of nuclear weapons and other problems the world. Indeed Obama deserves this award because of his efforts; he has already showed his determination by starting the fight against climate change. This article reminds American citizens why we elected President Obama as the leader of our country and it also shows that the world sees the same hope we did in him.

  43. I believe that the speaker i this article is a reporter or a American that want America to know what he feels and think about president Obama recieving the noble prize. The audience is America , people in general. The purpose of this article is to show the thought and feelings of the author of the noble prize that president Obama recieved.
I think that no Obama should has not recieved the noble prize because i believe that it was to soon. For the fact that we as American have not seen president Obama do much for our country so far. And i think that America would had take his prize with a better reaction if they had seen president Obama in a better position with american.

  44. The speaker of the editorial is not given. But I believe the intended audience would be people who either agree or disagree with Obama being awarded the Peace Prize. The purpose of writing this editorial was not only for people (mainly people living in America) to read it, but it was clearly giving out an opinion. The topic that is being discussed is Obama's Peace Prize and whether or not he deserved it. The thesis of the editorial is found at the end when it says "The Nobel Prize, and the broad endorsement that followed, shows how many people around the world want the same thing." I think at this point it would be hard to decided whether or not he desrves the Peace Prize. It's true that he became the first African American president in the US and that he has become and idol for many in the US and around the world. But other then that, i haven't heard of much change that he has produced. All Obama needs is time and I strongly believe he will better our country. The quote, "It is a reminder of the extraordinarily high expectations for any American president" shows how it's not easy for Obama being a president, but with t
he right support I believe he will make it.

  45. in the rhetorical triangle. the speaker of the article is not mention.but i believe that the author is writing to show bout president Obama acievements. the topic is baout the "The Peace Prize" so there is a quote thatpulled out from the article that show that Oabam deserve the Nobel Peace when it says."Americans elected Mr. Obama because they wanted him to restore American values and leadership — and because they believed he could." this shows that he won it, because of his success and hard work as a leader.

  46. The author of this article is The new York Times and the intended audience would everybody whom either agree or disagree with this decision. the purpose of this article was to show how the author felt about Obama receving the nobel peace prize. in my personal opinion i believe that Obama didnt deserve to win the nobel peace price becuase he has not accomplished much during his short time as president. i think that many people have high hopes in Obama to better and prosper this country. this however doesnt give them a reason to give him a prize because of his future plans. he must prove to the nation that he is the person whose going to show change in the nation and is deserving of the prize. people were too primitive in giving him the prize. According to the article "The Peace Price" it states, "Americans elected Mr. Obama because they wanted him to restore American values and leadership — and because they believed he could." in other words people elected Obama as president because they believe that he could be the change they want to see in this world. i think that people shouldnt have their hopes up too high because anything could happen and Obama should portray to everyone that he is desrving of the prize.

  47. throughout this article there is a sense that president Obama deserve this peace prize. i believe that he does not deserves it yet. because it is too early he has only accomplished some small thing while being in office. still has not brought the troops bring from war, as promised when he was running for president. but people have "hope" just like i do. thats is why i said he does not deserve it YET.

  48. through reading this article, talks about Obama deserve the nobel peace prize. ithink that Obama shuldnt recieve the peace prize noe because its to early and our country need more things to be accomplish for example-"Mr. Obama is going to have to overcome narrow-minded opposition in Congress to keep his promise to close Guantánamo and deal with its inmates in a way consistent with the Constitution and American values. He has much more to do to erase the worst excesses of Mr. Bush in detaining prisoners without charges and flouting the Geneva Conventions.

Americans elected Mr. Obama because they wanted him to restore American values and leadership — and because they believed he could. The Nobel Prize, and the broad endorsement that followed, shows how many people around the world want the same thing" by Obama completeing more tasks to make the country abetter place, then iwould say he deserve the prize which ithink he do but not now.

  49. As we all can see our current President has set new standards for our nation to follow. AS well to add on he himself has also made history through that process. Its easy to conceive that President Obama is a person that has made "change" which was his goal and campaign slogan. Yet being awarded such a prestigious prize is no doubt in my mind as something he doesn't deserve. Its put simply as our president is just doing his job. AS previous winners of this prize, a lot of these people had step out on to there own feet to fight for whats right. In my perception our president hasn't done anything within his own will to help a cause.

  50. "The Peace Prize" is an editorial written by the New York Times. It is addressed to the nation, the citizens, and basically everyone. The purpose of the the editorial is to inform people the reason for why President Obama received the Novel Peace Price and if he deserves it or not. This is a controversy because there a many people that oppose to this and there are also people that are excited about it. The editorial states, "Americans elected Mr. Obama because they wanted him to restore American values and leadership — and because they believed he could." I understand that Mr. Obama is HOPE for our country, but i believe that he received the Peace Prize too early. He has plans to make our country the best it can be and yes he has began on making these plans come true, but until he shows us that he can really make change this prize should be stored.

  51. This article shows us what the intentions of Obama's plans are and what he already accomplished. I am very supportive on Obama getting the nobel prize, and i think he deserve it. acording to what he's done for us so far, what he's trying to do is just woderful and very hopefull. He doesn't care only for the US for his country but the whole world. he want a world peace not just for one country. htta makes him unselfish, that's why i htink he desereve to win this prize.

  52. In the article “The Peace Prize” written by a New York Times writer is about how president Obama did deserve the Nobel Peace Prize. The intended audience is everyone in general but is really for the counter- argument, the people who don’t think Obama earned the Nobel Prize. The writers purpose is to make the counter argument rethink their opinion about the president earning the Nobel Prize. The author thesis is “The Nobel Prize, and the broad endorsement that followed, shows how many people around the world want the same thing.”

I think that Obama may have earned the Noble Prize. A quote from the article states “Mr. Obama has bolstered this country’s global standing by renouncing torture, this time with credibility; by pledging to close the prison camp at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba; by rejoining the effort to combat climate change and to rid the world of nuclear weapons; by recommitting himself to ending the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; and by offering to engage Iran while also insisting that it abandon its nuclear ambitions.” Obama not only wishes to make America better but also the world a better place, therefore he may have earned the Nobel Prize.
